I’ve been waiting to find the time to complete my own DIY project and over the Christmas holidays it seemed liked the perfect opportunity.

I wanted to paint an old corner cupboard that I have in my lounge room.  I’ve hated the colour for quite some time now but couldn’t find the energy to strip it back and sand it. It just wasn’t something I wanted to do.

Then I discovered Chalk Paint™ by Annie Sloan.  This unique paint is so versatile and easy to use for DIY projects.  Could it be to good to be true?

 No priming, no sanding, really?

Chalk Paint™ by Annie Sloan adheres to almost any surface, indoors or out and there’s rarely any need to sand or prime before painting.

I decided on the colour ‘COCO’ and got to work paining my cupboard.  I used sugar soap to wash down my cupboard before painting it. I had used furniture cleaner to dust it so I just wanted to make sure the paint was definitely going to adhere. 1 litre is enough to cover approximately 13 square metres  After painting, seal indoor furniture with Chalk Paint™ Wax.

I wanted a smooth modern finish so I painted even brush strokes in the the same direction as the grain.

You can sand in between coats but I didn’t need to.  I did two coats and was happy that the paint dried quite quickly and had not odour at all.

I also removed the handles and spray painted them black.  I used a black spray paint from Bunnings in a spray can (Wattyl Kill Rust Epoxy Gloss Enamel). No priming need to spray these either.

I also finished off the project by making sure that every part of my furniture had been waxed at least once with a lint free cloth.  I used the Clear Chalk Paint™ Wax.

What a transformation!  This DIY was so easy and only took half the afternoon to complete.

Such a great improvement don’t you think?
