Here are my top 5 places to eat at in Melbourne that are family friendly too.  Places that are casual, you can take the kids and the service is friendly.  Today I share my favourites.

If my husband and I go out we always take the kids.  Whether it be a casual afternoon coffee and cake or an early dinner, these places ticked all the boxes.

1. Little Creature Dining Hall, 222 Brunswick Street Fitzroy.

Renowned for it’s own beer brewery and own brand Little Creatures Beer, the Fitzroy dining hall has a relaxed atmosphere serving coffee, breakfast, lunch and dinner.  They encourage spontaneous dining and have an open door policy, Little Creatures is perfect for a night out with friends or a take the kids for afternoon tea.  Fitzroy is a vibrant alternative suburb full of interesting eateries and known as a bohemian enclave.

2. Georges 819 Burke Road Camberwell

Family friendly, great service, yummy food, tick tick tick.  Georges is a fantastic place to take the kids or just go out with your friends for a drink and a bite to eat.  Open daily serving modern Australian cuisine Georges is reliable, fast and a great place to be with great atmosphere in vibrant Camberwell.  There is lots of seating or for that special occasion like a wedding, 21st birthday you can book the function room upstairs.  If only more suburbs had this type of eatery.

3. Royal Saxon 545 Church Street Richmond

Open every day 12pm till late this upmarket pub has a relaxed atmosphere creating an urban ruin feel from designers Six Degress.  The Royal Saxon was renovated / rebuilt with help from my husbands company Supreme Ceilings, this place has an overwhelming sense of space with lots of glass and ironwork.  Chef Simone Righetto serves up homemade pasta and produces meats from scratch making you feel right at home at The Royal Saxon.

4.Rivers of Yarrambat 28 Kurrak Road Yarrambat

Rivers of Yarrambat is super kid friendly and lovely place to visit for an afternoon.  Enjoy a light lunch in the cafe and then feed hungry ducks in the beautiful lake.  Visit the garden centre and take home some new plants before venturing through the gift shop for more inspiration.  All of which is set in rural setting about 30 mins from Melbourne’s CBD.  This place is a family favourite of ours and I often take my kids for afternoon tea.

Half Moon Hotel

5. Half Moon Brighton 120 Church Street Brighton

Another favourite of mine is Half Moon Brighton.  Situated in the heart of Church Street this pub has a main bar and several dining rooms.  The completely rejuvenated pub with the help of Supreme Ceilings offers an extensive wine list, craft beers and all day dining.  Perfect for socialising, dining and drinking with your friends.  The pub features a stunning timber staircase and has functions rooms to suit any season.

If you live in Melbourne or plan on visiting, my top 5 are well worth visiting for a experience of Melbourne that I just know you will enjoy.

Are any of these places in your top 5?
