Today we are going to get a Sneak Peak inside this gorgeous weatherboard beauty on Australia’s coast.

The lovely Jacqui from East Coast Living has kindly let us have an insight into her life and enviable home.

Jacqui an Early Childhood Teacher at TAFE is happily married to Don with 3 gorgeous kids Kiah (15), Jed (12) and Flynn (8).  Jacqui has a passion for home styling and it really shows in her delightful home.

How long have your lived in this home?

We bought our home 17 years ago, it was a little miners cottage with so much character and warmth.

Did you renovate, extend, build or buy your home new?

We have been renovating on and off for most of those 17 years.  11 years ago we added a bedroom and increased the size of the lounge room, as our family grew and we fell more in love with the house we knew we didn’t want to move to a larger home so last year we did a major renovation and added a second storey to our home and put in a pool – such a good decision.

Describe your home to me, how many bedrooms, bathrooms, do you have a pool, is it rendered, weatherboard?

Our home is weatherboard and I love American seaside homes, so the exterior is inspired by those homes.  Downstairs is the 3 children’s bedrooms, bathroom, lounge, dining and kitchen.

Upstairs is the parents retreat, bedroom, ensuite and office.  We have also converted the garage and loft (which is seperate to the house) to rumpus room for the kids and laundry.  We have a lovely solar heated plunge pool with gorgeous travertine tiled entertaining area outside.

What is your favourite room, part of the house and why?

Hard to choose a favorite, I love our new bedroom, I feel like I am on holidays every morning when I wake up as it has an ocean view, I love the whiteness of this room.

The kitchen overlooks the pool, which is very relaxing and I can watch the kids while preparing meals.

What plans do you have for the future of your home, are you extending, doing the garden?

Gardening around the pool area, a new kitchen….one day!

If you built or renovated, is there anything that you would do differently?

We have been extremely happy with our renovation as we researched the style and put a lot of thought into the spaces we wanted for our family, couldn’t be happier.

Imagine you are moving house.  What are three things that you would want in your next home, you can be as extravagant as you like?

What is you decorating style and what styles do you like?

My decorating style is very natural colours, love white and relaxed!  We live near the beach and spend a lot of time there, my style is influenced by this – our home has a very beachy, coastal feel.  I have collected lots of items from trips to America, other holidays and source homewares online and nearly every time I go shopping – I can’t help myself.

I also love Christmas decorating and love the feel of being home with the family at Christmas, always looking for coastal feel Christmas accessories.

What is on your ‘I want’ list for your home.  This could be something like a new lamp or cushions etc.

My wish list is for our lounge room, to replace our lounge and add a rug and floor lamp, still looking for the right pieces.

Any other details that you would like to share about your home, your experiences or stories you have?

We lived in our home while it was being renovated altogether in 1 bedroom, dining room and kitchen – no hot water and borrowed power from our neighbours for 4 months!

My passion for home styling has led me to a few interior design courses and I have begun styling some local homes, which I am very excited about.
