It’s about that time of year where you start to think about decorating your Christmas tree. I thought I would share how I decorated my tree last year using homemade tassels. There’s also a tutorial attached. Have fun.

I made tassels for my Christmas tree this year. They are so easy to make so I wanted to share with you a little tutorial and how you can make your own. I bought tissue paper from various bargain shops. It doesn’t really matter about the quality but make sure you get the right colour for your theme. The only other thing you will need is some scissors and some string if you wish to hang your tassels up.
Start by folding the tissue paper in half, and then in half again like the picture above. You then need to cut up to the where the tissue paper is folded. Cut into 2cm strips leaving a gap at the top. See picture below. Cut strips all the way along.
You now have a fringed piece of tissue paper.
Now carefully unfold the paper so the fold is in the middle. Like the picture above.
Gentry roll the the centre of the tissue paper, like above, so the fringed parts are on the outside.
Once they are rolled up, they are complete. Twist the end so it resembles a tassel. You can choose to tie them altogether if you like.
Here is my tasseled Christmas tree.
Let me know if you have a go at making them? They are a great way to dress up a party or for Christmas.
Hey Yvette!! I had just looked back at my real living mag from last Christmas with Mark Tuckey’s tassle garland tree, then saw your fab post!! It’s a sign I say, I used to have a tassle garland above the bed in our guest room but have now found the perfect use for it on my tree 🙂 will be sure to post some pics x Ses
