Don’t be afraid to bring colour into your home.  Decorating with colour can be quite easy once you take your inhibitions out of the equation.

Start with your furniture.  If you start with a blank canvas like my white couch, throw in pops of colour.  In this case I have used yellow and balanced it back with grey.  This would work equally as well on a grey, beige, or a brown couch.  Choose a colour you love and add it with accessories also.

I have used a hot pink tray on my coffee table which adds a hit of colour and looks great with my other favourite colour yellow.  The other cushions and throws in the room have colour in them but it is not as bright.  This balances the whole space and is easy on the eye.

The same applies with my home office area.  Pops of colour (yellow, blue and pink) work well against the white desk and neutral background.

Pops of pink, jade green, gold and yellow work really well on my grey modular.  Try mixing up patterns and texture as well to add interest.

Inside Out Magazine chose my photo of my bedroom as an example of how to use colour without it being overwhelming.  My bedroom is quite neutral with soft grey tones and crisp white quilt cover.  The Cotton On Kids linen injects a burst of colour that is just enough to bring the whole look together.

Give it a go at your place and bring some of your favourite colours into your home.

Let me know how you go.
