Christmas is very nearly upon us, and it’s very likely you’ve seen Christmas decorations and gifts flooding the shelves in stores everywhere. While you may not be planning on putting your tree up just yet, you may be thinking about how you can prepare your lounge so that when that magical day comes, you’re left with style, sophistication, and a truly festive lounge to enjoy the coming weeks in. Dig out the thicker furnishings

With christmas comes the colder weather, and when it’s cold outside, there’s nothing better than snuggling up in your lounge to warm yourself up. Dig out thicker furnishings such as:

  • Throws and scatter cushions. These can really help maintain the heat in your lounge and also add a really cosy feel to the room.
  • Hang thicker curtains to help keep your lounge nice and toasty
  • Consider adding a rug in your lounge to have something soft to keep your toes warm during the winter.

Rearrange your lounge

For the most part of the year, many of us have our lounges just to our liking. Chairs at a certain angle to prevent glare on the TV screen, cushions placed to look stylish, and nest tables so everyone’s got somewhere to put their drink. However, when Christmas comes many of us have to rearrange some of the furniture to make room for the Christmas tree and decorations. Take some time to rearrange your lounge now so that you can have the best of both worlds; a stylish lounge and a wonderful festive Christmas tree!

Have your chimney swept

If you’re lucky enough to have an open fire in your lounge, then now is the time to consider having your chimney swept ready for the colder nights. A blocked chimney can create all sorts of problems, not to mention the soot covering all of your lovely furniture. If you’re savvy, consider buying your own chimney sweeping kit so that you can do it yourself instead of paying someone to do it each year. You may get a little sooty, so remember to order a heavy duty dust mask, a plastic sheet to cover furnishings, and some protective clothing to prevent ruining your clothes.

Declutter your lounge

Decorations will enhance the festive feeling in your lounge, but if the room is full of clutter and bits and bobs that you have accrued over time, you might not get the festive feeling you’re after. Spend some time packing away ornaments that you won’t use over the Christmas period and make room for your festive decorations! It might also be a good idea to temporarily pack away any children’s toys and put them elsewhere to make room for your Christmas tree! After all, it’s likely that Santa will be bringing plenty more toys for your children this year!

With a few simple rearrangements, and some clever thinking, you can have your lounge ready for Christmas in no time!
