With magazine covers like these under her belt, I could not pass up a workshop with Julia Green from Greenhouse Interiors.

Julia styles for many interior lifestyle magazines including Inside Out, Home Beautiful, House and Garden, Real Living and Frankie.

Julia also writes regular columns for Herald Sun Home magazine and also represents a number of Melbourne artists.

So, with Julia’s wealth of knowledge and experience I was ready for an informative and interesting night at the ‘how to style your home with colour’ workshop and what a fantastic night it was.

I learnt so much on the night, my head was spinning with ideas and I was buzzing with excitement just listening to Julia speak.  Being a stylist is my dream job and working on a magazine shoot would be an absolute dream come true.

I was in the right place to take note and listen.

Champagne and gourmet cheeses were served to start the night off, yummy.

Julia was so lovely and her gorgeous wit and charm shone the whole night through. Julia was like an open book, so generous and willing to share her knowledge on styling.  We all listened carefully and had the chance to ask as many questions as we wanted.  The table was decorated with confetti and the gorgeous Bon Bon vase from Lightly sat proudly in the middle.

Julia covered lots of topics on the night, rugs, lighting, art, vignettes, wallpaper and furniture.

This room set up was styled by Julia and was used throughout the night to show examples of how to style a perfect space.

The gorgeous pink Four Quarter Mandala artwork in this picture is by Emma Cleine from Lumiere Art and Co, isn’t it just beautiful.

This piece of artwork was chosen for its bright colour and the rest of room was styled around it.

We learnt that the artwork here is the focal piece and draws attention away from the floor.  The rug is then oversized to create a sense of space (an insider secret).

The cushions and throw all compliment the colour in the artwork so beautifully.

The rug is not over patterned or to busy so this space has a sense of harmony and balance.

Julia has created a perfect, colourful room to relax and unwind in. Thank you Julia for teaching us the tricks of the trade.

Everyone was busily taking notes as Julia spoke.

We also got a fabulous goodies bag to take home.  I could not wait to open it up and see what was inside.  Put together by the Greenhouse Interiors team it was filled with a collection of vouchers and goodies to keep.
