Sometimes I feel like a sweet treat.  Well OK, all the time I feel like a sweet treat.  It’s always after dinner and I find that’s when I go snooping around in the pantry. That’s when I choose to eat these yummy chocolate drops.

A friend of mine first introduced me to this fantastic sweet snack alternative.  Dark chocolate sprinkled with nuts and dried fruits of your choice.

Quite simple you just melt the best quality dark chocolate you can get your hands on.  I used Nestle 70% cocoa for this recipe as that is all my local Foodworks had.  I used a double boiler to melt the chocolate ( boil water in a saucepan and place a bowl on top of the saucepan with the chocolate in the bowl).  I find this way the most affective way to melt the chocolate.  Line a baking tray with baking paper.  When the chocolate is all melted, carefully spoon onto the baking paper into little bit sized rounds.  Then sprinkle on your favourite assortment of nuts and dried fruit.

I used dried pineapple and it was delicious coated in melted chocolate.  Try combinations of cashews, macadamia, cranberries, pepitas, sunflower seeds, pistachios, the choices are endless.  Just use what you love.  Put the tray in the fridge to set ( about 20 mins ) and then enjoy.  I keep them in an airtight container in the fridge and treat myself when I feel like something sweet.
