Healthy Chocolate Smoothie

I love making this chocolate smoothie and sometimes have it for lunch.  It’s quick, easy and I always have all the ingredients at hand.  The bonus is it’s high in protein and minerals to support a healthy metabolism and fills me up.


  • 1 banana fresh or frozen
  • 2 teaspoons of cocoa powder
  • 250ml or 1 cup of rice milk or almond milk (that’s what I use) or coconut water
  • 1/2 cup of ice
  • protein powder if you have any at hand
  • Add a handful of dates for a sweet caramel flavour if you like



Combine all the ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth and creamy and enjoy immediately.

You could also try another easy smoothie with frozen blueberries.


Blend 1 cup of frozen blueberries, 1 whole orange peeled, 1 cup of water or choice of rice milk, almond milk or coconut water.  Blend with a little bit of ice and add some protein power of your choice. This is a delicious blend and if you buy frozen blueberries you will always have them at hand.

Enjoy for lunch or as a mid morning or mid afternoon snack.
