If you dream of styling your home like a professional stylist and make it look like the magazines do, here are some tips that I have learnt along the way and would love to share with you.

These ideas will have your home looking more beautiful and not cost the earth.

1. Make display surfaces pretty.

Tidy up your bookcases, mantels and coffee tables and declutter these areas. Display your items by keeping it simple and in clusters of odd numbers.  This keeps the displays from looking to uniformal.

2. Declutter.

Look around you, does that pile of newspaper and letters really need to live on your dining room table or kitchen bench?  I didn’t think so.  Declutter your home by finding a place for those everyday items and get organised.

3. Play with texture, colour and pattern.

Don’t be afraid to mix up your patterned cushions and add a textured throw.  Visually this will look more appealing as you don’t want everything to be to matchy matchy.  You might be able to mix up your cushions from room to room and pick a cheap textured throw to tie the look together.  Add your favourite colour and don’t be afraid to show it off.  The colour will brighten your space and make you feel happy.  I love having colour in my home.

4. Add some foliage.

Go out into your garden and pick a bunch of flowers, pick up some twigs or if you are lucky enough you may some succulents.  Place these in odd shaped vessels and vases around your home.  A touch a green adds a homey feel and looks fantastic.  Don’t forget the herb garden.  A bunch of herbs displayed in the kitchen will look lovely and homey.

5.Make your space personal.

Add a touch of you to your home.  Whether it be something quirky, something antique, vintage or colourful, let your personality shine through your interiors.  Your home is a reflection of you so why not show that off.  Cluster some similar items on a side table that reflect your personality.
